Personal Library : Mysticism, Spirituality, and the Occult

The first phase of my Tarot project will be studying, learning, developing ideas, and taking lots of notes. I’ve gathered together a collection of over a thousand books to draw from while I create my tarot cards and my own book to accompany them.  I’ve divided the books into four separate posts:

Personal Library : Tarot

Personal Library: Symbolism and Imagery

Personal Library: Mysticism, Spirituality, and the Occult

These are books that I have printed copies of. My collection of digital books in PDF are listed in a separate post.

I plan to eventually post my notes about each book. If you have anything to add, any questions, or thoughts about any of the books I’ve listed here, feel free to reply to this post below. These books are not listed in any particular order.

The Book of the Law

Crowley, Aleister    1904

I’ve owned this book for many years. Any single work by Crowley is just one small part of a vast and complex puzzle. I’ve added it to this list because it’s a window into the mind of the man behind the Book of Thoth, but it adds nothing to the design of my own cards.

The Complete Fortune Teller

Hawthorne, Diana 1936

I’ve owned this book for many years. Mine was printed in 1940 by Blue Ribbon Books. This book is exactly what you’d expect it to be. Reading this book is like taking a trip back in time to a traveling carnival in the 1930s. The name of my tarot deck is hidden within the pages of this old book.
